Hamilton Tiger-Cats News Release
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have completed a trade with the Toronto Argonauts.
Hamilton receives quarterback Marcus Brady and defensive back Tawanbi Settles. In return, the Argos get offensive guard Mike Mihelic and future considerations.
Brady is entering his third year in the CFL. The 24 year-old, six-foot, 200-pounder, is a graduate of Cal-State Northridge. In 2001, which was his senior year, he led the nation in total offence, completions, attempts, passing yards, completions per game and passing touchdowns. Marcus also passed for 5 touchdowns in a game on 5 separate occasions in his college career. And, he had 18 career 300-plus yard passing games.
CFL fans remember Brady from the 2003 CFL East Division Championship, when he entered the game in the first quarter, when started Damon Allen was injured. He completed 19 of 32 passes, for 276 yards, a 59.4% completion average and three touchdown passes. He also played in the Eastern Semi-Final against BC, completing 3 of 3 passes for 42 yards and one touchdown.
Head coach Greg Marshall said, "Marcus is an outstanding athlete. He's mobile, has a strong arm, and we're really excited about the prospects of having Marcus here."
Brady commented, "it's an opportunity to play, so I'm excited. The offence has some great weapons, and I just want to be a part of it."
Tawanbi Settles, is a 6-foot-2 and a half, 200 pound defensive back, who went to Duke University. The 28 year-old has spent time in the Detroit, Green Bay, Jacksonville, Seattle, New York Giants and Atlanta Falcons camps.
Both Marcus Brady and Tawanbi Settles will be available for media interviews at the conclusion of today's practice, which starts at 10:30 am.
