
Bombers say "goodbye" to 2 PPCLI

WINNIPEG, MB â The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will say "goodbye" to the Second Battalion of the Princess Patricia's Light Infantry (2 PPCLI) at the game against the British Columbia Lions this Thursday.
On June 18 & 19, 2 PPCLI will bid farewell to Winnipeg before it moves to Shilo, Manitoba. Winnipeg has been home to 2 PPCLI since 1970.
The Blue Bombers and Labatt Manitoba will show their appreciation to 2 PPCLI by having members of the battalion as guests at the game, which kicks off at 7:30 p.m. CDT at Canad Inns Stadium. The Big Blue and Labatt have provided tickets in sections P, 8 & 8A for 2 PPCLI members.
At Thursday's game, a number of armoured vehicles will be on display in the South End Zone prior to game time. Among the vehicles at the game are the LAV III Light Armoured Vehicle and the Bison Armoured Vehicle. Various members of 2 PPCLI will be in the South End Zone to greet the public and give details on the vehicles. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. for fans that wish to view the vehicles and meet the soldiers.
The Blue Bomber game is just one Winnipeg goodbye to the battalion. The 2 PPCLI soldiers will perform a historic sunset ceremony Fri., June 18 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Forks. As well, the battalion will be granted Freedom of the City during a parade at City Hall Sat., June 19 at 10:00 a.m.
