July 10, 2008 - Norfolk plated two runs in the 9th inning and one more in the 11th, rallying past the Pawtucket Red Sox 3-2 Thursday night in front of 8,813 fans at Harbor Park.

Trailing 2-0 entering the ninth frame, Mike McCoy started the rally as he led off the inning with an infield single off of Pawsox closer Chris Smith (1-3). Oscar Salazar then lined a slicing double just inside the right field line to plate McCoy, and Mike Costanzo followed with a single to left that scored Salazar to knot the game at 2-2.

The Tides pushed across the winning run in the 11th inning, as Tike Redman and McCoy began the inning with back-to-back infield hits. After a strikeout of Salazar, Costanzo drew a walk from Smith to load the bases, and Luis Terrero followed by grounding a ball to shortstop Jed Lowrie. Lowrie elected to attempt an inning ending double play on the grounder, but Terrero reached first safely without a throw, allowing Redman to score and give the Tides the comeback win.

With the win, the Tides have now won seven straight contests for the first time since August of 2005.

Ryan Bukvich (6-2) earned the win with a scoreless inning of relief in his first outing back with the Tides after being outrighted from Baltimore on Wednesday.

Norfolk starter Andy Mitchell turned in a very strong outing, as he set a career-high with eight innings pitched. Mitchell yielded just one earned run on five hits while striking out six, becoming the first Tides starter to go eight innings this season.

The Tides and Pawsox will continue their four-game set on Friday night, with first pitch from Harbor Park slated for 8:00. Chris Waters (2-6, 6.65) will look to pick up his third straight win for Norfolk as he squares off against Pawsox righty Devern Hansack (4-8, 4.45).
