FORT MILL, S.C. - July 10, 2008 - Charlotte's bats came alive again downing Richmond 8-2. It was all about big numbers at the ballpark tonight, with a hot hitting streak and a big win.
Knights OF Jason Bourgeois continued his hot play at the plate, hitting safely for his 14 game in a row. Bourgeois' streak is the longest for a Knights player this season. Three of the Knights runs came from two homeruns in the 1st and 8th innings. Chris Getz collected his seventh and Royce Huffman his sixth home runs of the season.
Starting LHP Wes Whisler (10-5, 3.36) got the win going six innings and striking out three. With tonight's win, Whisler is tied for second in the league in wins.
The Knights continue their series with the Richmond Braves tomorrow as Knights RHP Charlie Haeger (7-7, 4.11 ERA) takes the mound against the Braves LHP Chuck James (3-4, 2.58 ERA). Game time is at 7:15.
