Norfolk Tides News Release

Craig Brazell hit a bases clearing double with two outs in the bottom of the 8th inning, lifting the Tides to a 4-1 win over the Ottawa Lynx Friday night at Harbor Park.

With the score tied at 1-1 in the 8th inning, Norfolk (28-21) rallied for the winning runs off of Ottawa starter Dave Borkowski (3-6). Angel Pagan hit a two-out single to right field to start the rally, and advanced to third on a double by Jeff Keppinger. After a walk to Victor Diaz loaded the bases, Brazell connected for a high fly ball that bounced squarely on the top of the wall in left field, clearing the bases and putting the Tides up 4-1.

The 8th inning has been kind to the Tides this year, as they have now outscored their opponents 32-10 in the 8th inning this season.

Steve Colyer (3-1) earned the win with 1.1 innings of scoreless relief, and David Lee earned his second save of the year by retiring the last two batters of the game.

Neal Musser, sidelined since May 7th with a sore shoulder, pitched 3.0 shutout innings at the start of the game.

Rodney Nye had two hits and Angel Pagan had a hit and an RBI for the Tides, who won for the second straight game and improved to 16-8 at Harbor Park this year.

The Tides take on the Lynx again on Saturday night at Harbor Park, with RHP Jason Scobie (5-1, 2.86) pitching for Norfolk against Ottawa RHP Tony Fiore (1-1, 4.46).
