Windy City ThunderBolts News Release
Crestwood, IL - The Windy City ThunderBolts dropped a 1-0 decision to the Ohio Valley Red Coats on Friday night at Hawkinson Ford Field.
The ThunderBolts and RedCoats were in a 0-0 lock-jam until the RedCoats posted a run in the top of the sixth. Right fielder Jason Boyd knocked an RBI single to left, to bring shortstop David Munoz around to score. Munoz had singled with one out earlier in the inning.
Both starting pitchers stymied their opposing offenses. Windy City right-hander Ryan Dittfurth tossed eight strong innings, relinquishing just one run while scattering five hits. The tough-luck loss drops Dittfurth's record to 1-2. Reliever Matt Hines set the RedCoats down in order in the top of the ninth.
Ohio Valley's Chris Jakubaukas allowed just three hits in his complete game victory. The win improves Jakubaukas' record to a perfect 2-0 on the season.
Third baseman Matt Ferrara had two of the ThunderBolts' three hits on the night, both of which were for two bases.
The ThunderBolts and RedCoats will face off on Saturday night at 7:05pm. Newly acquired Scott Anderson (RHP, 0-0, 0.00) will make the start for Windy City, while Tom Cochran (LHP, 0-3, 10.80) will take the hill for Ohio Valley. Game time is 7:05pm. Tickets are still available.
