Windy City ThunderBolts News Release

Crestwood, IL - The Windy City ThunderBolts dropped their fifth straight decision on Saturday night. The ThunderBolts fell to the Ohio Valley Redcoats by a score of 7-3.

Designated hitter Justin Schuda gave the ThunderBolts their only lead of the game in the bottom of the second inning. Schuda rocked a Tom Cochran offering over the fence in right field for a solo homerun, his first of the season.

The Redcoats tied the game in the top of the following inning and took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth. Travis Garcia recorded both runs batted in with his single in the third and double in the fifth.

In the seventh, Ohio Valley knocked Windy City starter Mike Renery out of the game. Renery surrendered four runs in six-plus innings. Reliever Steve Ziroli did not fare much better as he was roughed up for three runs in the eighth.

Cochran was solid for the Redcoats despite a ThunderBolts rally in the bottom of the eighth. A double down the left field line by left fielder Ryan Andrews brought right fielder Nick Johnson home to score. Johnson had led off the inning with an infield single. Another run crossed the plate to cut Ohio Valley's advantage to four runs at 7-3.

Catcher Joe Neal had himself a perfect night at the plate. Neal was 3-3 with two singles and a double to his credit. He also reached on an error in his final at-bat.

Cochran went eight innings to earn the win. The win improved Cochran's record to 1-3. Adam Palmer tossed a scoreless ninth. Renery took the loss to drop his record to 2-3 on the season.

The ThunderBolts and Redcoats will take to the field at 5:05pm on Sunday for the third and final game of the series. Josh Glynn (RHP, 1-2, 4.43) will make the start for Windy City against Ohio Valley's Ty Kline (RHP, 1-2, 8.10). Tickets are still available.
