Thunderbirds Hold Serve at Home with 5-1 Win Over Cougars

Kent, WA - The Seattle Thunderbirds were able to hold serve after a 5-1 victory over the Prince George Cougars in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semi-Finals on Saturday at the accesso ShoWare Center.

Once again, the Thunderbirds came out with a hot start, getting the game's first goal and outshot the Cougars 11-3. Jared Davidson hammered a power-play goal at 13:12 to get the T-Birds ahead. The score remained 1-0 Seattle after 20 minutes.

In the second period, the Cougars headed to a 5 on 3 for two full minutes, however, they were unable to bury it goaltender Thomas Milic who made multiple stops and saw a puck hit off the post. The 4,650 fans went ballistic inside the accesso ShoWare Centre once the penalty was killed. Seattle came the other way and added to their lead with Brad Lambert firing in his first playoff goal to make it 2-0. Just over 4 minutes later, Dylan Guenther scored his team leading 8th goal of the playoffs to put Seattle up three after 40 minutes.

The Cougars came out flying in the third period getting a goal 14 seconds in from Ondrej Becher to them within 2.

That was as close as they would come, however, as Seattle scored two power-play goals courtesy of Kyle Crnkovic and Jared Davidson. With the Thunderbirds win, that puts them 8-0 in their 2023 playoff run.
