Kamloops, B.C. - Dylan Ernst posted a 29-save shutout and Logan Stankoven scored twice as the Kamloops Blazers took a 2-0 series lead with a 5-0 win over the Winterhawks in Game 2 on Saturday.
As they did on Friday, Kamloops again opened the scoring around the midway point of the first in Game 2, as Caedan Bankier converted on the power play at 11:44. A back-and-forth tussle ensued until late in the second stanza, when the Blazers broke through once more on Olen Zellweger's fourth of the playoffs at 17:35. Ninety seconds later, Stankoven made it 3-0 with another power-play strike before the end of the frame.
Stankoven, who was named B.C. Division Player of the Year earlier this week, scored again 7:53 into the third, and Daylan Kuefler later added a fifth to seal the Blazers' win. The teams reconvene in the Rose City for Game 3 on Wednesday, with puck drop set for 7:00 P.M. at the VMC.
