Wichita at Quad City, 3-2 W (SO)

-RG Flath and Dustin Donaghy gave the Thunder a 2-0 lead. The Mallards mounted a third-period comeback and forced overtime. Both teams failed to score in the extra session and the game headed to a shootout. Matt Robinson and Matt Summers scored while David Brown stopped four of five shooters .

STREAK SNAPPED - Wichita broke a three-game losing skid on Friday night, winning in a shootout by the final of 3-2. The Thunder improved its road record to 8-6-2 with the win. Friday's trip was the only time this season the Thunder will travel to Moline to play at Quad City. Wichita is 6-0-3 at the I-Wireless Center and 12-2-3 all-time against Quad City.

SHOOTOUT SUCCESS - After losing the first shootout of the season during opening weekend, the Thunder have earned wins in their last three appearances. Saturday was the first time the Thunder had entered a shootout since November 30th, winning 3-2 at Missouri. Wichita is 3-1 in shootout situations this season.

ANOTHER MILESTONE - Matt Robinson scored in round one Friday night, collecting his 14th shootout goal of his career. He moved into third place all-time past Bob Berg for shootout goals in Thunder history. The South Surrey, British Columbia native is 14-for-24 all-time in shootout situations since coming to Wichita. He needs six more to catch Travis Clayton, who has 20 and seven to tie Jason Duda in first place, who has 21.

BLUE LINE - With Wichita off on Saturday night, Jesse Dudas remained in first place in the defensive scoring race and is tied with Sean Erickson of Rapid City. Dudas has eight goals and 18 assists while Erickson has six goals and 20 assists. Andrew Martens slipped to fourth with 24 points (5g, 19a). Mike Wilson is alone in 14th place with 16 points (3g, 13a).

HEATING UP - Matt Summers was off to a hot start before having to sit out for almost a month on IR. Over the last three games, the Savage, Minnesota native has four points including the shootout winner on Friday. He had two assists on January 3rd against Arizona and registered a goal and an assist at Quad City to help the Thunder secure a 3-2 shootout win. Summers has 15 points (5g, 10a) in 22 games so far this season.

SWEET FEELING - David Brown got a heavy dose of his former teams over the last few weeks and finally came out on the winning end last Friday. He stopped 32 of 34 against the Mallards in 65 minutes of work plus stopped four of the five Quad City shooters he faced in the shootout. The former University of Notre Dame product played two seasons in Quad City in 2010-11 and 2011-12. He improved his record to 8-8-0 on the season and 4-6-0 since coming to Wichita. In three - straight starts, Brown took on Arizona on January 4th, where he played a season ago and the Allen Americans on New Year's Eve, where he began this season.

THUNDERBOLTS... Jon Booras is 11th with 37 points, tied for third for power play goals (6), tied for eighth in power play assists (10) and is tied for eighth in assists (25)...Nick McParland is ninth in rookie scoring with 15 points (5g, 10a)...Andrew Martens is tied for fourth in power play assists (13)...Wichita is first in shots allowed per game (29.33)...Wichita is averaging 14.70 PIM per game, which is the lowest in the league...Wichita is 7-6-1 when out-shot by its opponent...Wichita is 5-3-0 when leading after one...Wichita is 6-3-1 when leading after two...Wichita is 5-8-1 when tied after one...Wichita is 6-5-4 in one-goal games...Wichita is 2-1-0 in 4-goal games...
