THUNDER FINISH WEEK STRONG - Wichita began the week with an overtime loss in Rapid City, losing 2-1 despite out-shooting the Rush 49-28. The Thunder headed to Denver on Friday night to meet the Cutthroats for the third time at the Denver Coliseum. Wichita fell behind early and couldn't recover in a 6-2 loss. The two teams moved back to the ICT, where the Thunder turned the tables and earned a 6-3 victory on Saturday night. The Thunder finished off the weekend with a 4-1 win on Sunday afternoon against Allen in front of a season-high 8,829 fans. Overall, the Thunder took five-out-of-a possible eight points and sits just three points out of first place.
MAC MOVES PAST UNGER- Head Coach Kevin McClelland passed Gary Unger and moved into seventh place all-time with 294 career wins last night. McClelland will be the seventh coach in the CHL to surpass 300 wins as he is just six shy of that mark. McClelland recently coached in his 500th career game this past Friday in Denver.
THIRD PERIOD POWER- Behind three power play goals in the third period, Wichita pulled away from Allen last night. Wichita has tallied three power play goals in a game eight times this season. The Thunder had a season-high 10 power play chances.
MAN UP- Wichita has scored at least a goal with the man advantage in 11 of the last 13 games and has gone 22-for-66, good for 33.3%. Overall, the Thunder power play is 53-for-246, good for 21.5%. The Thunder penalty kill is first overall, killing off 183-of-212 chances for the opposition and operating at 86.3%.
MARTENS HITS 200- Andrew Martens had two assists on Saturday night, which gave him 201 career-assists. Martens was the CHL Defenseman of the Year in 2010-11 and has 28 points this season. The Calgary, Alberta native is closing in on 500 games (468) played and has 259 career points (57g, 202a).
STREAKS- RG Flath and Chad Painchaud are both riding five-game point streaks. Flath has seven points over that stretch (4g, 3a). He has recorded points in 11 of the last 12 contests. Painchaud has 10 points in the last five (3g, 7a).
MILESTONES- Chad Painchaud is two assists shy of 200 for career. Inman reached 100 assists on January 27th. Summers sits at 187 assists and 288 points for his career. Neil Trimm is 11 goals shy from reaching 100 for his career. Les Reaney is six goals shy of that same mark with 94 career goals. Kevin Young is five games from playing in his 300th professional game. Nathan Lutz is approaching 700 career games as he is 16 games shy. Matt Robinson is five points from reaching 300. Dustin Donaghy needs 10 penalty minutes to reach 200 for his career.

Kevin Regan is tied with Torrie Jung for second in shutouts (2)...Regan is fourth in goals against average (2.41) while Jung is tied for fifth (2.51)...Neil Trimm is tied in sixth in goals (23)...Ian Lowe is tied for third in power play goals (10) while Flath and Young are tied for eighth (7)...Wichita is second in goals scored (175)...Wichita is first in second period goals (72) and first in second period shots (610)...Wichita is second in goals for per game (3.50) and tied in first in goals against per game (2.62)...Wichita is first in shots for per game (33.86) and first in shots against per game (25.98)...Wichita is 17-2-1 when leading after one...Wichita is 21-1-2 when leading after two periods...When trailing after one, Wichita is 8-10-0...When trailing after two, Wichita is 3-13-3...In 1-goal games, Wichita is 9-3-6...In 4-goal games, Wichita is 6-3-0...When scoring on the power play, Wichita is 18-7-4...
