Thunder Walk-Off Against Roadrunners

EDINBURG, Texas---Cody McMorris delivered the walk-off sacrifice fly sending the McAllen Thunder past the Edinburg Roadrunners 2-1 Sunday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

The ball game remained scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning. Luke Hetherington reached on a one-out single and then moved to second on a throwing error. After Hetherington stole third, he came into score on an RBI double by Carl Johnson giving the Thunder (33-50) the 1-0 lead.

The Roadrunners (33-50) responded in the top of the seventh against Thunder starter Adrian Garza. Robert Matlock led off with a single and then moved to second after a throwing error. A sacrifice bunt moved Matlock to third and then Derek Marshall hit an RBI single to left scoring Matlock and tying the game at one.

Adrian Garza (3-4) pitched a complete game allowing just one run on five hits while striking out five.

With the game tied at one in the bottom of the ninth, Garret Breda hit a one-out single to left field and then moved to third on an Adam Matos double. McMorris then hit the walk-off sacrifice fly off of Aaron Guerra (6-7) allowing Breda to score giving McAllen the 2-1 victory.

Tim Haines got the no decision after allowing one run on five hits and striking out six in seven innings.

The Thunder and Roadrunners will play game three of their four-game series Monday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Jose Pablo Oyervidez is expected to pitch for Edinburg with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
