Thunder Victorious Again in Overtime

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder defeated the Tulsa Oilers in a shootout on Tuesday night at the BOK Center. The Thunder outscored the Oilers 3-0 in the shootout, including goals from Marc Belanger, Jason Duda, and Jason Tessier. Krister Toews stopped all three shootout attempts he faced.

Jordan Hack scored a pair of goals for the Thunder, connecting at 7:49 in the first period on the power play, and at 8:43 in the second. Ben Boudreau scored his first goal as a member of the Thunder at 14:15 in the second to make it 3-0 Wichita.

The Oilers then rallied to score four consecutive goals from the end of the second, through late in the third period, with Jeff Christian picking up a goal and an assist along the way. Jason Duda rescued the Thunder at 17:06 in the third, knocking in a pass from Brad Thompson to tie the game at 4-4.

With neither team scoring in overtime, the Thunder scored on their first attempt when Belanger deked Oilers' goaltender Davis Parley. Tessier's goal came in Wichita's fourth attempt, clinching the win after Toews had stopped Tulsa's first three tries. Belanger received credit for the game-winning goal.

Toews earned the win, saving 27 of 31 in regulation and overtime, and three of three in the shootout. Toews, a natural rookie, is now 4-0 in overtime this season, including a 3-0 mark in shootouts on the road. The Thunder is now 5-3 in overtime games this season, including a 3-1 record in shootouts.
