Kevin Beech's Shutout Earns Weekly Award

The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that Mississippi goaltender Kevin Beech has been voted the winner of the CHL Performance of the Week for the week ending February 1st. Beech won the award for his 26-save performance on January 31st versus Rapid City, his league-leading third shutout of the season.

Beech earned a convincing 1205 votes accounting for 65% of the votes cast in the poll. In all, 1844 fans voted in the weekly poll. Coming in second place was Arizona's Adam Perry who tallied 295 votes for 16% for his hat trick on January 28th.

Beech is tied for first in the league with 24 wins and is second with a 2.27 goals against average. He was recently named the Sher-Wood CHL Goaltender of the Month for January after posting an 8-2-2 record with two shutouts.

The nominees for the CHL Performance of the Week for week 16 of the season (Feb. 3-9) are as follows:

-Amarillo's Jake Morissette scoring four goals in 6-3 win at Arizona on February 7th

-Tulsa's Davis Parley's 41-save effort in 2-1 win over Colorado on February 3rd

-RGV's Jesse Bennefield's four-point night (2-2=4) in 7-2 win over Tulsa on February 6th

-New Mexico's Craig Macdonald scoring career-high four points (2-2=4) in 5-3 win over Rapid City on February 6th

-Mississippi's Darrell Stoddard's four goal third period in 9-2 win over Wichita on February 3rd

Fans can vote for the winner through Monday, February 16th with the winner being announced on Tuesday, February 17th.
