Trenton Thunder News Release
TRENTON, NJ - Slade Heathcott blasted a three-run homerun in the bottom of the 5th inning to turn a 4-3 deficit into a 6-4 lead for the Thunder.
Heathcott's smash was his first Double-A homerun and was his second hit of the game. He entered the game mired in a 3-for-33 slump but connected for two hits, including the biggest which brought home Tyler Austin and J.R. Murphy who had reached base earlier in the 5th.
Trenton used Branden Pinder to close out the 9th for the 6-4 win which snapped a brief two-game losing streak for Trenton. Matt Tracy allowed three homeruns, but pitched six innings for the victory which moves him to 2-2 on the season and 2-0 at ARM & HAMMER Park.
Game 2:
TRENTON, NJ - Ali Castillo's third hit of the game was a walk-off single to right-center field in extra innings to push Trenton to a doubleheader sweep of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
Castillo stepped to the plate with J.R. Murphy at third base and Slade Heathcott at first base and delivered a shot up the gap the other way. With arms above his head he sprinted to first base and was happily mobbed by his teammates as they raised the Thunder record to 14-11 at the end of April.
The Thunder and New Hampshire Fisher Cats continue their four-game series Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. The game features RHP Jose Ramirez (0-0, 0.00) in his first start for the Thunder against RHP Marcus Walden (1-3, 3.29) for the Fisher Cats.
