Allen, TX (Nov. 10th) - In their first meeting of the season, Wichita (4-7-0-0) couldn't slow down the Allen (8-3-0-0) offense in a 5-2 loss at the Allen Event Center on Tuesday night. Ian Lowe and Andy Huff scored shorthanded goals in the losing effort. Wichita falls to 0-1-0-0 in the season-series and will face the Americans a week from this coming Friday.

Allen got on the board first with a power play goal at 9:16. Greger Hanson was able to slide a short pass into the paint to Chad Costello who scored to make it 1-0. After both teams took a few minor penalties, Huff tied the game on a shorthanded breakaway goal with one minute to go in the frame.

In the second, Allen found the net twice and took a two-goal lead into the locker room. At 6:28, David Makowski fired a low shot from the right point that got past Rollheiser to make it 2-1. Makowski followed up that effort with his third goal of the season at 15:16 to increase the lead to 3-1.

The Americans netted their third consecutive goal at 4:02 of the third when Costello put one home for his fourth of the season and second of the game. Two minutes later, Lowe got the Thunder within two with a shorthanded tally at 6:08. Allen answered quickly with their second power play goal of the night just 21 seconds later as Eric Roy fired one through traffic to make it 5-2. Allen appeared to make it 6-2 several minutes later, but a clock operator error erased Pierro-Zabotel's first of the evening. The final horn rang with the Americans taking a 5-2 victory.

Huff and Lowe recorded the first shorthanded markers of the season for the Thunder. Huff takes over the team lead with eight points, scoring his second of the season. Rollheiser took the loss, stopping 27 of 32 shots. Rumpel earns his eighth win of the season, stopping 21 of 23 shots he faced.
