Thunder Sign NHL Veteran

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder bolstered their offense today signing former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mark Kolesar.

A 10th-year pro, Kolesar spent the last five seasons playing in Europe, four of them in the British Super League. He picked up 22 points in 29 games last season, then turned it on for the playoffs, notching 20 points in just 18 games.

Following a stellar three-year junior career with the WHL's Brandon Wheat Kings, he joined the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1994 as an undrafted free agent. He spent four seasons in the Toronto organization, scoring four points in 28 NHL games. Kolesar also suited up for three NHL playoff games, picking up a goal.

Over his nine pro seasons, Kolesar has compiled 313 points in 531 games. He is expected to join the Thunder on Wednesday.

Wichita will host the Oklahoma City Blazers on Thursday and the Tulsa Oilers this Saturday in a pair of exhibition games. Both games will face-off at 7:00 p.m. at ice Sports Wichita. Tickets for both games are $10 each for general admission and will go on sale Thursday morning. Only cash and checks will be accepted for these two matches.

The Thunder golf tournament will be held on Monday, October 13th at Terradyne Country Club, beginning at Noon. The cost is $375 per team. To sign up, call Matt at the Thunder office. The annual season ticketholder preseason party will be held on Tuesday, October 14th at Ice Sports Wichita from 6:00-9:00 p.m.

Wichita will begin the regular season with a pair of home games on Friday, October 17th versus the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs and Saturday, October 18th versus the Tulsa Oilers. Both games will face-off at 7:30 p.m.

Individual tickets are on sale now, ranging from $9 to $16 each. Season tickets are also still on sale, starting as low as $198.
