Indianapolis Ice News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, IN-- The Indianapolis Ice announced today that the team has signed forward Jason Selleke (SELL-ah-kee) to a contract for this season. Selleke will join the rest of the training camp roster at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the Pepsi Coliseum.

The versatile forward spent his one-year hiatus away from Indianapolis as he played last season for the United Hockey League Champion Fort Wayne Komets. He didn't finish the year with the Komets, but still posted a respectable 20 points (10G, 10A), 5 power play goals and 115 penalty minutes in 45 games.

"It's obviously great to have Jason back," said Ice Head Coach Ken McRae. "He adds grit and enthusiasm to our line-up and I can use him in all situations from penalty killing to power play.

Before his short jaunt up I-69, the 25-year-old forward spent his first two pro seasons in Indianapolis and compiled 85 points (38G, 47A) and 264 penalty minutes in 132 games. His best year pro was his 2001-02 year with Indy as he finished fourth on the team in scoring (48 points) and led the squad with a (+6) plus/minus.

The native of St. Clair Shores, Michigan played collegiately at Ohio State University (CCHA) where he tallied 25 points (11G, 14A) and 276 penalty minutes in 152 games.

In other news, Ice forward Etienne Morin has retired from hockey after accepting a job in Boston, Massachusetts. Morin was runner-up in CHL Rookie of the Year balloting last season after recording 40 points (25G, 15A) in 59 games for the Ice last year.

"I am sorry to see Etienne leave after a solid rookie campaign," said McRae. "As with Shawn earlier this summer, it's a career move for him and the organization wishes him the best of luck.
