RICHMOND, VA -- Pitching was the story again for the Thunder in their 3-1 victory over the Richmond Flying Squirrels Friday night.

Zach Nuding erased some early jitters to pace Trenton's pitching staff on the road. He collects his first win of the season for Trenton and now stands at 1-3 this season with a 2.27 ERA. Trenton pitching has allowed five runs (three earned) in the last four games good for a 0.77 ERA in that stretch.

Offensively, the Thunder used a two-run 4th inning to take the lead and not look back. Jose Pirela's second home run of the season led-off the inning, and Slade Heathcott's homer pushed Tyler Austin across the plate for the 2-1 lead.

Trenton is now 5-0 against the Flying Squirrels this season including their sweep at ARM & HAMMER Park April 11 - 14.

The Thunder continue the three-series Saturday at 6:05 p.m. The game features LHP Francisco Rondon (2-1, 6.38) for Trenton against LHP Chris Gloor (0-1, 6.62) for the Flying Squirrels. Radio coverage on 91.3 FM (WTSR) and also streaming online begins at 5:50 p.m.
