Glenn's 3 RBI's Power Fisher Cats Past Phils 8-5

New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Fisher Cats used a Brad Glenn 2-run home run in the 4th inning plus three bases loaded walks in the seventh to surge to an 8-5 win over the Reading Fightin Phils on Friday evening to open a 6 game homestand.

Trailing 4-0 in the 4th, Glenn ripped a 1-1 pitch over the wall in right-center field to cut the deficit in half. Reading would stretch the lead back to 3 in the next half inning, but in the 6th Ryan Schimpf followed a Ricardo Nanita walk by lining a triple to left. Schimpf would then score on a Clint Robinson ground out for a 5-4 game.

The offense would then explode for 4 runs in the 7th, after Justin Friend (L, 0-1) took over for Reading starter David Buchanan, and allow a John Tolisano leadoff sngle. After getting an out, Nanita singled and Schimpf hit a double to score Tolisano. With runners at second and third, Robinson was intentionally walked, but that caused Friend to lose the strike zone, as he then unintentionally walked Glenn, Kevin Nolan, and Adam Loewen. Chad Beck would come on and pitch two perfect innings for his 6th save and nail down the 8-5 victory.

Chorye Spoone got the win in relief (1-1) with four innings pitched, allowing just an unearned run while registering seven strikeouts.
