
SeaWolves Take Down Curve 6-3

The SeaWolves won their third straight game on Friday night as they took down the Altoona Curve 6-3 in front of 4,522 fans at Jerry Uht Park.
The 'Wolves broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third against Curve starter Ethan Hollingsworth. With two outs, Daniel Fields struck out but reached on a wild pitch to extend the inning. Tyler Collins followed and belted an opposite-field two-run home run, his sixth, for a 2-0 lead. The home run for Collins was his fifth in the last four games.
In the fourth, the SeaWolves extended their lead. With Jamie Johnson on second, Marcus Lemon singled to center, extending his hitting streak to five straight games, scoring Johnson for a 3-0 lead. Eugenio Suarez then belted an opposite-field triple down the right field line, scoring Lemon for a 4-0 lead. The hit for Suarez was his first in Double-A.
In the sixth, Erie would go ahead 5-0. Wade Gaynor led off and reached after striking out on wild pitch. A second wild pitch got Gaynor to second and he scored on a Suarez base knock to center.
Altoona cut into the lead in the seventh against Erie starter Patrick Cooper. Adalberto Santos walked and Matt Curry belted a two-run home run to right making it 5-2.
Erie went ahead 6-2 in the eighth against Curve reliever Luis Sanz. With Lemon on third and Hernan Perez on first, Sanz balked bringing home Lemon.
In the top of the ninth, Jarek Cunningham homered off of reliever Will Startup to cut the Erie lead down to three. Started worked out of a jam with a couple of errors and struck out Andy Vasquez to end the game, earning his fourth save in as many chances.
Cooper (1-2) earned his first win of the season allowing two runs on three hits with three walks and a season-high six strikeouts in six innings of work.
The SeaWolves look to equal their longest win streak of the season on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. RHP Warwick Saupold (1-1, 2.40 ERA) takes the mound against RHP Stolmy Pimentel (2-0, 0.30 ERA).
