
Baysox Pound Aeros Again

Akron, OH - The Bowie Baysox (13-14) had another big offensive game against the Akron Aeros (13-15) and beat them for the seventh time in nine games, 8-2 on Friday night.
The Baysox struck first in the top of the second inning. Caleb Joseph hit his league best 12th double of the season and then with two outs Zelous Wheeler knocked him in with an RBI single. After Aaron Baker doubled, Garabez Rosa hit a two-run double that gave the Baysox a 3-0 lead.
In the bottom half of the inning, the Aeros got one run back. Quincy Latimore hit a one-out double and then Kyle Bellows knocked him in with an RBI single that made the score 3-1.
The Baysox struck with two outs once again in the third inning. Joseph singled and then Henry Urrutia brought him home with an RBI double to make the score 4-1.
Once again in the bottom half of the inning, the Aeros answered back. Giovanny Urshela hit a lead off double, went to third on a single by Tyler Holt and then scored on a groundout by Bo Greenwell to make it a two run game at 4-2.
The Baysox added to the lead with a three-run seventh inning. Xavier Avery drew a one out walk and Kyle Hudson reached on a fielding error to put two runners on. The next batter, Ty Kelly, doubled to center to knock in Avery. After Joseph was intentionally walked to load the bases, Urrutia hit his second double of the game that scored two runs and pushed the lead to 7-2.
Avery knocked in another run in the eighth to extend the lead to 8-2.
Jake Pettit got the win going seven innings and allowing two runs on six hits with four strikeouts and one walk.
Matt Packer picked up the loss allowing four runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts.
The Baysox and Aeros will go back at it tomorrow night at 6:05 p.m. RHP Kevin Gausman (1-3, 3.77) will get the start against RHP Paolo Espino (1-0, 4.50).
The Baysox will return home on Thursday May 9th for a four-game series against the Erie SeaWolves.
