THEY MEET AGAIN : The Sea Dogs return to Hadlock Field after a 5-1 roadtrip, battling the New Britain Rock Cats (Twins affiliate) in game one of a three-game series on Friday night...This marks the third series between the two teams this year, and the second in Maine...With yesterday's win, Portland completed their first ever series sweep in Reading, PA...Portland has the best record in the Eastern League and has won 15 of their last 20 games...Opening Day starter Drake Britton makes his sixth start of the season for the 'Dogs.
THEY HELD ON : Portland scored the first 7 runs of the contest and held on to beat the Reading Fightin Phils, 7-4 on Thursday morning at First Energy Stadium...Anthony Ranaudo (4-0) won his fourth straight start, yielding one run (homer by Tyler Henson) on four hits and four strikeouts...Xander Bogaerts went 2-for-5, clubbing his first homer of the season in the first...Christian Vazquez hit his second blast of the season, a lead-off shot in the fifth...Brock Huntzinger record the final two outs to earn his sixth save of the season...Hector Neris (2-1) took the loss for Reading.
