
Thunder New 5K Run/Walk Event Added to "Thunder Goes Pink V"

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, a two-time recipient of the ECHL "Award of Excellence," has scheduled a 5K Run/Walk event as part of "Thunder Goes Pink V" for Saturday, Nov. 6 at Stockton Arena beginning at 9:00 a.m.
The event is new to the itinerary of annual activities to support "Thunder Goes Pink" presented by St. Joseph's Medical Center taking place this season from Nov. 5-7 in a three game pink-themed series against the Bakersfield Condors, in an annual mission to raise funds for breast cancer awareness and prevention.
Individual participants will have the opportunity to become notable and recognized figures in the Thunder's flagship promotional event, mingle with select players for autographs and photos, win prizes throughout the morning and take advantage of bonus fundraising opportunities by entering the event.
Entry for the event is $30 by registering by Nov. 3 at www.StocktonThunder.com and $35 by registering in-person at Stockton Arena on the day of the event. Participants ages 10 and under can register for just $10. Each participant will receive:

Participants will start and finish the race at Stockton Arena, the home of the Thunder and progress in a course featuring a fast, flat loop along picturesque downtown Stockton and Events Center waterfront setting.
Check-in and walk-up registration for the event is from 7:30-8:45 a.m. Participants are encouraged to park in Stockton Arena surface lots.
The Thunder will take on the Bakersfield Condors on Satur day, Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m.
Returning for the fifth season as the flagship fundraising event, the wildly popular "Thunder Goes Pink" series turns the games at Stockton Arena into a pink-themed spectacle for local breast cancer awareness and fundraising for the cause.
A tradition that headlines the annual event, newly designed special pink-accented jerseys will be worn by the Thunder during all three games and will be available for silent auction to fans in attendance for the weekend. Several of the game-worn jerseys will be available for bidding during live auction immediately following the Saturday, Nov. 6 game. Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society - Stockton Field Office and the St. Joseph's Foundation - Breast Cancer Services.
Last year, $32,480 in funds raised was donated to the event beneficiaries: American Cancer Society - Stockton Field Office and St. Joseph's Foundation - Breast Cancer Services. The Thunder has boosted its all-time, four-year total of funds raised through "Pink" to over $145,000 with over 16,000 fans in attendance for the two games last year.
OPENING NIGHT AND TICKET INFORMATION
Opening Night is Friday, Oct. 15, when the Thunder opens the 2010-11 regular season at home against the Ontario Reign, starting at 7:30 p.m. at Stockton Arena. The Thunder and Alaska Aces meet in the preseason opener on Oct. 5 at Sullivan Arena, beginning at 8:15 p.m. The Thunder and Ontario Reign square off in the only preseason game at Stockton Arena on Friday, Oct. 8 at 7:30 p.m.
