ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Greg Poss announced today that forward Evgeny Timkin has signed a contract for the 2010-11 season, making him the 11th player signed by the Everblades for the upcoming season.

Timkin joins the Everblades for his rookie North American campaign after spending last season with Avangard Omsk of the Russian Kontinental Hockey League. While with Omsk, the top Russian league, he was a teammate of former National Hockey League star Jaromir Jagr and posted three assists in 20 regular season games.

Timkin, who turns 20 on September 3, also participated in the Under-20 World Junior Championships picking up one assist in six tournament games for the Russian squad.

"Evgeny is a big kid who has good skills and likes to mix it up physically," said Poss. "With the roster limitations in hockey now, if you're going to be a physical player you also have to be strong in the other aspects of the game and he has shown that ability. He's real hungry to play and continue to grow in North America and we're excited to have him joining our club."

The Murmansk, Russia native also spent the 2008-09 season at the professional level with Omsk, tallying two assists and 59 penalty minutes in 27 games. Timkin's top season in Russia came with Omsk in 2007-08 in the Russian 3rd Division. The 6-foot-3, 205 pound winger recorded 13 points (8g, 5a) and 44 PIM in 34 games.

Following the U-20 World Junior Championship Timkin was ranked ninth in The Hockey News' Hot List poll of top prospects.
