Salmon Kings Announce New Additions to Hockey Operations Staff

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that Kevin Heise has been hired as the team's new Athletic Therapist, while Marc Beaudoin joins the club as the Head Equipment Manager.

"The additions of Marc and Kevin to our hockey staff is an important step in solidifying the professional atmosphere we desire in our dressing room," General Manager and Head Coach Mark Morrison said. "Both have a plethora of experience, knowledge and skill in their area. We are very happy to have them as part of the Salmon King family"

Heise joins the Salmon Kings for his 13th season as an athletic therapist after spending the 2009-10 campaign with the Amarillo Gorillas in the Central Hockey League (CHL). He also has previous experience in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with seven seasons between the Tri-City Americans and Seattle Thunderbirds, as well as four years with the Mount Royal College Cougars of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC). During his time at Mount Royal College, Heise was part of two Canadian College Athletic Association (CCAA) National Championship teams.

The 34-year-old native of Edmonton, AB is a 1998 graduate of Edmonton's Grant McEwan College with a diploma in Massage Therapy, as well as a diploma in Athletic Therapy from Mount Royal College in 1999. Heise also graduated with a degree in Kinesiology from the University of Calgary in 2002, and completed his Canadian National Certification in Athletic Therapy in 2007.

Beaudoin, a Grande Prairie, AB native, joins the Salmon Kings with over 12 years of experience in hockey. He has spent 10 of the last 12 hockey seasons in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) with the Grande Prairie Storm as their equipment manager and head athletic therapist. His last three years with the Storm also saw him in the role of strength and conditioning coach for the club. During his time in Grand Prairie, Beaudoin won two AJHL Championships with the Storm (2003-04 and 2008-09). The 36-year- old is a graduate of Mount Royal College in Calgary with a Diploma in Athletic Therapy.

The Salmon Kings open the 2010-11 season on Friday, October 15th in Idaho with a two-game set versus the defending National Conference champion Steelheads. Victoria returns home to open up their schedule at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre with a three-game set versus the Ontario Reign beginning Wednesday, October 27th.
