Trenton Thunder News Release

(Trenton, NJ)- The Trenton Thunder, Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced today that C Jason Brown has been named the 2006 Samuel Plumeri, Sr. Community Service Award Winner and that OF Justin Christian was named the Hamilton Jewelers Fan Favorite Award Winner. They were presented the awards in an on-field ceremony prior to the game against Reading on Sunday night at Mercer County Waterfront Park.

Brown has been an active participant in the Thunder's Grand Slam We Care Foundation activities. He helped coach at Thunder youth clinics and camps and has been a regular volunteer for community outreach opportunities around the ballpark and greater Trenton community. On the field, Brown has batted .202 with 4 HR and 17 RBI this season.

"One great example of Jason's commitment to the fans here in Trenton was when he recently caught all 14 innings of a game then was still the last player out on the field signing autographs," said Thunder General Manager Brad Taylor. "That shows the kind of character Jason has."

Brown joins Brad Tweedlie (1999), Marty McLeary (2000), Josh Garrett (2001), Mike Griffin (2002), Brian Myrow (2003), Jason Grove (2004) and Ben Julianel (2005) as winners of the Sam Plumeri Sr. Community Service Award.

Trenton Thunder Fan Favorite award winner, Justin Christian, currently leads the Eastern League in stolen bases with 67. The outfielder shattered the Thunder franchise record for stolen bases in a season before the All-Star break. In addition to playing a sparkling centerfield for the Thunder this season, he has batted .277 with 6 HR and 41 RBI.

Previous winners of the Hamilton Jewelers Fan Favorite Award include; Aaron Rifkin, Jerry Salzano, Virgil Chevalier, Randy Brown, Rich Betti, Joe Perona, Lou Merloni, Jason Grove and Shelley Duncan.

"Both Jason and Justin have been integral parts of the team and the community," said Thunder General Manager Brad Taylor. "We are happy to have them as part of the Thunder family and it's been our privilege to have them as part of our organization. We are lucky to have partners like Hamilton Jewelers to help share in this award."

The Samuel Plumeri Sr. Community Service Award winner is chosen by Thunder Management while the Hamilton Jewelers Fan Favorite winner is chosen by fan voting at the AAA Guest Services Center at Waterfront Park throughout the season.
