Wichita Thunder News Release
MEMPHIS NIPS THUNDER- Jason Duda's power play goal gave the Thunder a first period lead, but the RiverKings responded with three power play goals of their own, winning 3-1 at the Kansas Coliseum on Friday. Thunder Head Coach Jim Latos was ejected from the game midway through the second period. Rookie goaltender Patrik Lovisek made 35 saves in his North American debut.
THIRD PERIOD OUTBURST BEATS THUNDER- The Blazers scored three third period goals, breaking a 4-4 tie and sending them to a 7-4 win over the Thunder Saturday night in Oklahoma City. Once again, the Thunder were done in by two power play goals. Jason Duda, Travis Clayton, Peter MacKellar and Bob Rapoza each had two points for the Thunder. Goaltender Stephen Wagner suffered the loss, despite making 38 saves, as the Thunder were outshot for the first time this season, 45-21.
SAINTS STOP THUNDER IN SHOOTOUT- The Thunder held three two-goal leads, but couldn't hang on, dropping a 5-4 shootout in San Angelo on Sunday. The Saints scored all four regulation goals on the power play. Jason Duda and Travis Clayton had three points each and both scored shootout goals for the Thunder, before Chris Peach won it for San Angelo in the final round.
INJURY REPORT- Center Todd Johnson suffered a broken nose and needed several stitches after he was in the face with a puck on Saturday in Oklahoma City. Johnson missed Sunday's game, but should return to the lineup on Wednesday. Center Jeff Leiter also suffered an injury Saturday and played very briefly on Sunday. He is questionable for this week, pending further examination. The loss of Todd Johnson and Leiter forced Latos to move defenseman Paul Johnson to forward, where he scored his first goal on Sunday.
