
Thunder falls at Flint

FLINT, Mich. - Flint scored three unanswered goals in the first period against Bloomington en route to a 5-2 International Hockey League victory Friday at Perani Arena.
The loss dropped the PrairieThunder's record to 9-7-1-2 (21 points) and kept the team in a fourth place tie with Dayton in the league standings. Flint improved to 6-12-0-2 (14 points).
John Mori, who had a goal and two assists, found the net just 1:48 into the game on a power play off assists by Bryan Smolinski and Brandon Gentile. Tony Tuzzolino then scored two straight goals with 3:15 and 1:07 in the first period.
Gentile and Mori had assists on his first goal off a power play, while Jamie Schaafsma and Mori had assists on the second goal.
Bloomington got its first goal from Jesse Dudas with 5:28 remaining in the second period on assists by defensemen Russ Smith and Cole Ruwe. It was Ruwe's first point of the season.
John Ronan tallied a short-handed goal for Flint 3:08 into the third period before Billy Bagron scored an unassisted goal for Bloomington with 11:30 left to cut the deficit to 4-2.
Schaafsma added the Generals' final goal with 4:11 left in the game to bring about the final. Bloomington owned a 37-30 advantage in shots on goal, but was unsuccessful on four power play opportunties. Flint converted 2 of 3.
Paulo Colaiacovo took the loss in net to drop his record to 6-4. The winning goalie was Rob Nolan.
Bloomington returns to action Friday at 7:05 p.m. against Flint to begin a six-game homestand at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
