Thunder Fall Short Against Rush

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder fell 2-1 to the Rapid City Rush on Saturday night at the Kansas Coliseum. Rapid City opened the scoring on Chris Lipsett's power play goal at 2:00 into the second period. R.G. Flath gave the Rush a 2-0 lead with an even strength goal in the third at 12:19.

Less than a minute later, Curtiss Patrick scored his first goal of the season at 13:03 to cut a 2-0 Rush lead to 2-1. The Thunder had a two man advantage with an extra attacker for the game's final 17.1 seconds, but could not tie the game.

Rush goaltender Miguel Beaudry saved 25 of 26 for the win, while Tim Boron saved 27 of 29 shots in the loss. The Thunder went 0 for 3 on the power play, while going 4 for 5 on the penalty kill. Wichita dropped to 0-7-1 in Saturday games at the Coliseum.

Wichita is back in action Tuesday night at Mississippi. Opening faceoff against the Riverkings is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Coverage can be heard worldwide at www.wichitathunder.com
