Thunder Bring Back Netminder Sean Bonar

Wichita, KS - The Wichita Thunder, proud member of the ECHL and powered by Toyota, announced that the team has signed goaltender Sean Bonar (BAWN-ehr) to a contract.

Bonar, who just celebrated his 25th birthday, is making his second stint in the Air Capital after being acquired in a trade last season with the Orlando Solar Bears. A native of Delta, BC, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound netminder began the season with the Fayetteville FireAntz of the SPHL before heading to the Brampton Beast. Bonar's last stop was with Fort Wayne and appeared in three games for the Komets, going 2-1-0 with a goals-against average of 2.69 and a save percentage of .911.

Prior to turning pro, Bonar played a four-year collegiate career at Princeton. His best statistical season came as a freshman, going 8-6-1 with a 2.20 goals against average and a .912 save percentage. Before heading to the college ranks, he spent two seasons playing for the Penticton Vees of the BCHL, where he was an All-Star during the 2008-09 season. The following year, he was named as a member of Team Canada West and earned tournament MVP honors at the World Junior A Challenge.

Wichita begins a three-in-three this weekend against the Allen Americans starting Friday at 7:05 p.m.
