Alaska Aces News Release

LOVELAND, COLORADO - Jesse Mychan scored the game-winning goal at the 6:29 mark of the third period and the Colorado Eagles battled back from a 2-1 third period deficit to down the Alaska Aces 4-2 Wednesday night at the Budweiser Event Center.

No scoring in the first period, though the Aces had at least 3 grade-A scoring opportunities and the Eagles one of their own. Stephen Perfetto, David Eddy and Tommaso Traversa each had a good look but couldn't convert, and Colorado's Daryl Bootland tested Aces goaltender Troy Redmann, but Redmann was better on the shot. The Aces outshot the Eagles 12-5 for the period.

Alaska's Tony Deluca opened the game's scoring with a snappy wrister from the top of the right circle at 12:07, beating Colorado goaltender Kris Lazaruk glove-side, top-shelf. Assists on the play to Garrett Haar and Marc-Andre Levesque.

Colorado tied the game on defenseman Adrian Veideman's long shot from the left point at 15:15.

Levesque scored his first professional goal at 18:14 of the second period as he sent a centering pass from the lower left circle to the front of the net. The puck went off a defenseman's skate and into the net to give the Aces a 2-1 lead. Alaska leading in shots on goal 26-13 after 2 periods.

Things turned bad for Alaska in the third period. With Redmann pulled from the game because of an injury suffered late in the second period, backup goalie Jacob DeSerres was victimized by Everett Sheen at the 5:57 mark of the third to tie the game at 2. Then 32 seconds later it was Jesse Mychan knocking a puck in past DeSerres, his 23rd goal of the season and eventual game-winner. An insurance goal was scored at the 10:27 mark by Ludwig Karlsson who snapped a wrist shot over DeSerres' shoulder and into the corner of the net for the final 4-2 tally.

Alaska outshot Colorado for the game 35-23.

The two teams will continue their three-game series Friday at 5:05pm Alaska time in Loveland.

The Aces return to the Sullivan Arena on Friday, March 9 against Ft. Wayne.
