
Thunder Blanked in Allen in a Battle for First

Allen, TX- Rejean Beauchemin stopped all 20 shots he faced as the Wichita Thunder (25-12-2) fell Friday night 5-0 to the Allen Americans (23-9-7) at the Allen Event Center. Wichita remains winless in Allen and falls back into second place with the loss, one point behind the Americans.
Wichita fell behind 2-0 in the first 20 minutes as Allen scored twice in a four-minute span. Jeff Martens pounded one in on the doorstep at 14:07 and Nick Layton put home a loose puck in the crease at 18:17.
Allen scored two more times in the second period, getting one from Bruce Graham at 8:19 and Mark Nebus with three minutes left. Wichita had the better of the power play attempts, but couldn't solve Beauchemin who stopped all 15 shots he faced through the first 40 minutes.
The Americans added a goal in the third period as Graham scored his second of the night and won 5-0 over Wichita. It was the first time this season Wichita had been shutout as the Thunder still have yet to beat the Americans in regulation. In Allen, Wichita is 0-5-0 all-time at the Allen Event Center. The Thunder is 1-3-0 in its last four games while the Americans extended their win streak to four games.
