Arizona Sundogs News Release

PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs climbed out of a three-goal deficit to tie the game early in the third period, but Frankie DeAngelis added the game-winner less than two minutes later as the Fort Wayne Komets skated away with a 7-5 win on Friday night at Tim's Toyota Center.

Kayliegh Schrock tallied an empty-net goal in the closing seconds to pad the final score for Fort Wayne.

Craig Macdonald recorded his 350th career point with an assist and Kyle Hood scored his 50th career goal during the contest.

Tyler Butler's blast from the right point just 1:21 into the third period tied the game at 5-5 for the Sundogs before DeAngelis' strike for the Komets at 2:48

A four-goal first period for the Komets was the difference in the contest as Colin Chaulk opened up the scoring 2:41 into the game to give Fort Wayne a 1-0 lead. Chris Auger extended the lead five minutes later from the front of the net off an assist from Stephon Thorne. Kyle Hood put the Sundogs on the board with a power play goal midway through the period, but Tom Mele answered right back for the Komets less than a minute later.

The Komets capped off the first period scoring with David Starenky burying a loose at the right ride of the crease with 6:40 left.

The Sundogs responded in period two to close the gap starting with a shorthanded goal by Tyler Matheson after following Daymen Rycroft in on a breakaway just 1:46 into the frame. It was Matheson's fourth of the season and the second straight game Arizona has scored a shorthanded goal - their sixth of the year.

The Komets added a power play goal from Jamie Lovell less than a minute later to make it a 5-2 game, but Luke Erickson tallied back-to-back goals to make it a 5-4 deficit for the Sundogs. Erickson's first was a slap shot from the top of the right circle at 5:53. His second resulted from a loose puck in the crease with 6:53 to play.

Nick Boucher earned his league-leading 22nd win, stopping 25. Scott Reid took the loss for Arizona with 24 saves.

The Komets finished 1-for-7 on the power play while Arizona went 2-for-8.

The Sundogs and Komets meet again on Saturday night before Arizona departs on an 11-game road trip - their longest of the season. Saturday's game is set for a 7:05 PM MST start.
