Rapid City Rush News Release

(Dayton, OH) - The Rapid City Rush began their seven-game road trip with a 3-2 shootout loss to the Dayton Gems at Hara Arena on Friday night. The Rush had six powerplay chances including a full five-minute major, 5-on-3, and double-minor, but could not capitalize on any of the opportunities. The Rush take on the Bloomington Blaze tomorrow at 6:05pm MST and the game can be heard live on 100.3FM the FOX.

After a pair of shutout games last weekend, the Rush and Gems quickly lit the scoreboard with three goals in the opening 4:10. The first tally came from Shawn Limpright who one-timed a Jesse Schultz pass from the right faceoff circle to give the Rush the lead just 57 seconds into the game. However, the Gems responded 20 seconds later on the sixth goal of the season by Charlie Townsend. Just over four minutes in, the Gems took their first lead of the game when David Nimmo capitalized on a defensive zone turnover, snapping a shot past Tim Boron, ending the goaltender's night.

It took until the 16:13 mark, but the Rush tied the game on Scott Wray's fourth goal in as many games, jamming the puck home from the side of the net.

In the shootout, Dayton's first two shooters found the net, including Brandon Naurato who scored the eventual game winner.
