Thunder Announces Two Transactions
April 5, 2018 - ECHL (ECHL)
Wichita Thunder News Release
Wichita, KS - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers, AHL's Bakersfield Condors and powered by Toyota, announced two transactions this afternoon.
Defenseman Samuel Thibault has been activated from reserve and loaned to the Condors. The Thunder have also signed forward Grayson Pawlenchuk to an ECHL contract.
Thibault heads to the Condors for the first time this season and his first AHL call-up. The Ste. Martine, Quebec native has nine assists in 43 games this year. Thibault is tied for second on the team in plus/minus (+10).
Pawlenchuk, 21, just completed his fifth year with the Western Hockey League's Red Deer Rebels. A native of Edmonton, Alberta, the 5-foot-11, 185-pound forward notched 52 points (18g, 34a) in 72 games this past season and was the team's captain. He finished with 144 points (60g, 84a) in 282 career games for the Rebels. Pawlenchuk was a former teammate of Evan Polei, who is currently up in the AHL with the Condors.
The Thunder closes the season with a pair of games in Colorado against the Eagles starting Friday at 8:05 p.m. CST.
