Among the six players named to the All-ECHL First Team, two are members of the Colorado Eagles in defenseman Matt Register and forward Michael Joly. and Joly) and three players appear on the All-ECHL Second Team (Kyle Ostrow, Daavettila, Jake Marto).
"We are tremendously proud of these two outstanding players and this accomplishment is very much deserved after their efforts this season" said Eagles president and general manager Chris Stewart. "To have 10 players named to the All-ECHL First Team and three others named to the All-ECHL Second Team in our seven seasons in this league is something that we take great pride in, as we always strive to build the very best team, every single season."
Joly is making his first appearance on the All-ECHL team and currently leads the ECHL with 39 goals and 11 game-winning goals, is tied for fourth with 11 power-play goals and is tied for 11th with 62 points despite playing in just 50 games.
The 22 year-old has netted 63 goals and 41 assists in 88 ECHL games, after spending the 2016-17 season with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. Joly has also appeared in 47 AHL contests with the San Antonio Rampage and Hartford Wolf Pack, posting nine goals and 10 assists during that time.
Register is on the All-ECHL First Team for the fourth time in his career after also receiving the honor in 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2016-17. The 28 year-old leads all ECHL defensemen with 64 points, is tied for second with 16 goals and is tied for third with 23 power-play points.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound defenseman captured an ECHL Championship with the Eagles last season, while also being named the MVP of the 2017 ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs. Register also captured a Kelly Cup Championship with the Allen Americans during the 2015-16 season. The second-year Eagle was named the ECHL Defenseman of the Year last season after receiving the same accolade during the 2013-14 season with the Ontario Reign. He also earned a spot on the ECHL All-Star Team in both the 2013-14 and 2014-15 campaigns.
Tickets for the 2018 Kelly Cup Playoffs go on sale Monday, April 9th at 10am and can be purchased by calling the Eagles ticket office at 970-686-SHOT (7468) or purchase online at www.ColoradoEagles.com.
