Thunder Add Experienced Defenseman for Playoff Run

Wichita, KS (March 13th) - The Wichita Thunder of the Central Hockey League announced Tuesday that they have signed defenseman Kevin Young.

Young, 29, played for Strasbourg in France earlier this season. The White Rock, BC native turned pro in 2005-06 after spending two seasons with the University of New Brunswick. He was named the CIS 'Clare Drake' Rookie of the Year in 2003-04. He has been an important part of two championship teams, one in 2005-06 with the Nijmegen Devils in Netherlands and last season with the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. He was also named Netherlands Best Defenseman in 2010-11 with Eindhoven Kemphanen where he tallied 17 goals and 48 assists in 40 games.

Young is expected to be in the line-up tomorrow when the Thunder host the Rapid City Rush. To make room, defenseman T.J. Miller has been waived.
