Rapid City Rush News Release

(Allen, TX) - Veterans Konrad Reeder, Jesse Schultz and Scott Wray shouldered the load for the Rapid City Rush on Tuesday night in a 5-2 win over the Allen Americans at the Allen Events Center. The trio combined for four goals and nine total points, led by Reeder's two goals and two assists. The Rush are now tied with the Missouri Mavericks for third place in the Turner Conference and face the Wichita Thunder tomorrow at 6:05pm MST.

After a scoreless opening period, both offenses exploded for four goals in less than seven minutes to begin the second frame. The Rush got on the board first when a Scott Wray outlet pass sprung Konrad Reeder and Jesse Schultz on a 2-on-1 that culminated with Schultz' 21st goal of the season. The lead lasted just fifteen seconds as Mark Nebus' shot was stopped, only to be rebounded in by Jeff Martens who backhanded home his 10th of the year. The Americans earned their first lead of the game at the 4:12 mark when Joshua Hepditch's wrist shot from the left circle found its way through a screen and into the top corner. Four minutes later, the Rush answered back on a 3-on-2 when Reeder and Schultz combined to set up Wray for his 22nd of the year and a 2-2 tie.

The Rush controlled the final period, beginning with a powerplay goal at 3:51 on their first chance of the game. Schultz and Reeder again combined for a tally, this time a shot from the bottom of the left circle gave the Rush a 3-2 lead and the eventual game-winner. Later, Garrett Gruenke and Jeff Kyrzakos set up Collin Circelli for a breakaway chance, and the skilled forward made no doubt about it, snapping a shot inside the left post for his 14th. In the closing seconds, Reeder scored and emptynet goal for his team-leading 35th of the year and 5-2 win.

Tim Boron improved to 19-10-2 after turning aside 25 of the 27 shots faced.

Despite giving up four powerplay chances in the first period, the Rush penalty kill went a perfect 4-for-4 on the night.
