Windy City ThunderBolts News Release
Kalamazoo, MI - The Kalamazoo Kings plated 3 runs in 3 separate innings Thursday night to drop the ThunderBolts 10-0 at Homer Stryker Field. Tim Brown and Justin McClain each were sent across 3 times.
6 batters came to the plate in the 2nd frame against Windy City starter Gregg Pleeter. The first two, Brown and McClain, each drew a free pass. After a popout, Jason Sullivan singled and Lee Mezistrano walked with the bases loaded. A wild pitch and sacrifice fly scored the others.
In the 3rd, Frontier League RBI leader Pete Pirman yanked his 21st homer of the season. That dinger provided the 92nd and 93rd driven in by the outfielder from Palatine.
Pleeter finished with 6 innings to his credit. He surrendered 7 earned runs in that span and struck 3 out.
The Bolts concluded with 8 hits. Doug Schutt and Justin Schuda each chiseled a pair out against the Kings. Starter Dane DeValk lasted 7 innings and yielded just a total of 6 base knocks. DeValk's now 1-1 against the Bolts this year.
Windy City has now been shut out 3 times this season in 10 games with Kalamazoo. The Bolts are 2-8 versus the Kings.
Lefty Sam Jansen trots out for the ThunderBolts tomorrow in his third start for the team. He opposes Josh Beshears, the righty that fired a complete-game shutout against Windy City on July 2nd. You can find every pitch starting at 6:35 on www.sportsjuice.com.
