CLEARWATER - Matt Tomshaw tossed eight shutout innings to lead the Fort Myers Miracle to an 11-0 win over the Clearwater Threshers on Tuesday night at Brighthouse Field.

Game one of the four game set was delayed one hour and 28 minutes due to heavy rain. Ethan Stewart (2-5) worked a clean first inning, but lasted just 3.1 innings and was charged with the loss. Stewart allowed six runs on eight hits while walking two and striking out three.

Tomshaw (4-1) finished the game allowing just three hits and two walks while sitting down three on strikes over his eight innings of work.

The Miracle (29-21) got their first three runs in the top of the second inning, all with two outs. The frame was highlighted by Stuart Turner's two out, two RBI single which plated Tyler Grimes and Max Kepler.

Fort Myers added one more run in the third and scored an additional two, chasing Stewart from the ballgame. The Miracle led 6-0 after five innings.

The Threshers (10-40) got their first hit off of Tomshaw in the fifth inning after Art Charles led off with a double. He was thrown out at the plate trying to score on a fly ball to right field off the bat of Andrew Knapp.

Charles was the lone bright spot offensively for Clearwater, as the Threshers first baseman had two of the team's four hits. KC Serna also extended his hitting streak to six games after singling in the seventh.

Travis Harrison of Fort Myers had his 15-game hit streak snapped after an 0-for-4 night at the plate.

The bottom third of the Fort Myers lineup combined to go 8-for-12 with seven runs scored and four runs driven in. Stuart Turner finished 4-for-5 with two runs and three RBIs.
