Three T-Birds Heading to National Junior Team Camps

SwitzerlandKent,November 29, 2010 - The Seattle Thunderbirds are pleased to announce three players have been invited to selection camps for their respective national junior team. These players will be competing for the chance to represent their country at the World Junior Championships in Buffalo, New York, from December 26 to January 5, 2011.
Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard has been invited to the National Junior Team Selection Camp for Team Canada. Pickard leaves December 10 for the camp which runs from December 11 to December 15 in Toronto, Ontario. Pickard is one of four goaltenders that will compete for a spot on Team Canada. The final Team Canada roster will be named on December 15 at the conclusion of the selection camp.
This season Pickard has an 11-6-2-4 record with a goals against average of 2.64 and a save percentage of .930. Pickard was selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the second round, 49th overall, in the 2010 NHL Draft.
Left wing Marcel Noebels will leave December 18 to join Team Germany at their pre tournament camp in Rochester, New York.
Noebels, from Tonisvorst, Germany was a first round selection, 10th overall, in the 2010 CHL Import Draft. He has appeared in all 24 games this season and has 15 points on seven goals and eight assists.
Defenseman Dave Sutter is one of 28 players invited to the selection camp for Team Switzerland.
Sutter, from Monthey, Switzerland, was a first round selection, 34th overall, in the 2010 CHL Import Draft by the T-Birds. He has played in all 24 games this season and has two assists, a plus/minus rating of plus-4 and 38 penalty minutes.
The T-Birds take on the Medicine Hat Tigers on Tuesday, November 30, at 7:05 p.m. at ShoWare Center.
