Brendan Gallagher Invited to Canada's World Junior Training Camp

Vancouver Giants forward Brendan Gallagher has been invited to Canada's World Junior training camp in anticipation of the 2011 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Buffalo, New York. Hockey Canada made the annoucement Monday morning, inviting 39 (4 goalies, 12 defencemen, 23 forwards) of Canada's top junior-aged players (born 1991 or later) to take part in the Nationl Junior Team selection camp, December 12-15, 2010 in Toronto, Ontario. Gallagher is one 17 WHL players invited to camp.

In 26 games this season, Gallagher is 2nd in the league in goals with 22 and 6th in the league in scoring with 38 points. Originally a 9th round pick in the 2007 WHL bantam draft by Vancouver, the 18 year old is in his 3rd season with the organization. He took part in Canada's summer evaluation camp in Newfoundland and iis looking to become just the second player in franchise history to represent Canada at the World Junior Championships. Evander Kane won gold with Canada at the 2009 World Junior Championships in Ottawa.

Following the 4 day training camp the roster will be trimmed down to 22 players. The tournament runs December 26, 2010 to January 5, 2011.
