
Three SeaWolves Selected to 2010 EL All-Star Game

(ERIE, PA) TheErie SeaWolves are pleased to announce that RHP Zach Simons, RHP Brooks Brownand OF Andy Dirks have been selected to represent the club at the 2010 EasternLeague All-Star Game in Harrisburg. Dirks and Brown were fan selections whileSimons was selected by EL Managers and Media.
RHP ZACH SIMONS - For Simons this ishis second straight Eastern League all-star game appearance. In 23 appearancesfor the 'Wolves (All in relief) Simons is 1-1 with three saves and a 2.52 ERA.He has allowed 10 runs on 24 hits in 35.2 innings pitched with 11 walks and 37strikeouts. Opponents arehitting .190 against the righty this season. Simons has not allowed a run overhis last 10 outings (14.2 innings pitched). Of the 10 runs allowed this season,eight of those 10 came in his first four outings of the season. Since April 21,he has allowed just two runs in 19 appearances.
The former secondrounder of the Colorado Rockies in 2005 was acquired by the Tigers in fromColorado in exchange for Jason Grilli on April 30, 2008.
RHP BROOKS BROWN - ForBrown, this is his third mid-season all-star game selection and first as amember of the Tigers organization. He was a California League all-star in 2007and a Texas League all-star in 2008. Brownhas appeared in 17 games, seven starts and 10 relief appearances, for theSeaWolves in 2010. He is 5-5 with two saves and a 4.70 ERA. He currently leadsthe league with two complete games.
Brown,a former first round selection (34th Overall) by the ArizonaDiamondbacks in the 2006 draft, was acquired by the Tigers in exchange forJames Skelton on April 2, 2009.
OF ANDY DIRKS - Dirksis selected to his first career all-star game in his second season with theSeaWolves. The outfielder is Erie's lone position player selected to the ASG. In76 games for the SeaWolves, Dirks is hitting .279 with a career-high 10 homeruns and 38 RBI. He ranks third in the league and leads the SeaWolves with 84hits. He also leads the club with 15stolen bases. Dirks has also shown off his arm this season as he leads theleague with 14 outfield assists. Dirkswas selected by the Tigers in the eighth round of the 2008 June draft out ofWichita State University.
The 2010 Eastern League All-Star Gamepresented by Ollie's Bargain Outlet will be played on Wednesday, July 14that Metro Bank Park in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
