Ottawa Lynx News Release
Down 2-0, the Ottawa Lynx scored three times in the bottom of the 6th inning to defeat the Durham Bulls 3-2 on Friday night. Val Majewski's RBI doubled tied the game in the 6th, and Eli Whiteside's RBI single gave the Lynx the lead for good. RHP Brian Bowles gave up two runs in the first, but went on to pitch 7.0 solid innings to collect his 5th win. Julio Manon worked a scoreless 9th for his league-leading 16th save.
The Bulls came out of the gates quickly, scoring twice on a two-RBI single by catcher Shawn Riggins to put Durham up 2-0. Lynx starter Brian Bowles and two relievers would hold the Bulls in check the rest of the way, and it would be up to the Lynx bats to see if they could score. Down by two in the bottom of the 6th, the Lynx mounted their only rally. Andy Tracy singled with one out and moved to third on Luis Terrero's line drive double down the left field line. After Keith Reed flew out, Val Majewski rocketed a two-strike double to left, scoring both Tracy and Terrero to knot the game at 2-2. Eli Whiteside followed Majewski with a line drive single to left, plating the go-ahead run and putting the Lynx up 3-2. The Lynx pitching staff would take it from there, as Winston Abreu worked a scoreless 8th before closer Julio Manon retired the side in the 9th for his 16th save in a 3-2 victory.
