TONIGHT'S GAME: The second of a four game series and the second of 12 meetings with the Indians, the second of six at Victory Field. Game two of an eight game road trip. The Braves were 4-8 vs. the Indianapolis last season, 2-4 at Victory Field. This is the 22nd of 48 games vs. West Division opponents, Richmond is 8-12 vs. the West Division. The ninth of 24 road games vs. West Division opponents (Richmond is 3-4). The Braves are 51-66 all- time vs. Indianapolis. The Braves are fourth in the South, 23 and a half games behind first place Charlotte. The Indians are first in the West by a haf game over Toledo.

SUSPENDED GAME: The Braves vs. Indians game last night was suspended by rain heading into the bottom of the fourth inning with Richmond leading 2-0. The Braves took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI single by Tony Pena that chased Michael Ryan. Richmond extended the lead to 2-0 in the third on an RBI double by James Jurries that scored Gregor Blanco. Brian O'Connor pitched three scoreless innings for the Braves, allowing one hit and striking out three. The game will resume tonight with the Indians coming to the plate in the last of the fourth. RHP Jonathan Johnson is scheduled to come on in relief for O'Connor to re-start the game. The game remains a scheduled nine inning contest. The regularly scheduled game for tonight will be a seven inning affair. Tonight's games are not a doubleheader for statistical purposes.

BRAVES LOOK TO END RECORD LOSING SKID: The Braves have set a club record by losing 12 straight games. The previous record was 11 in a row last season from June 30 to July 10. The Braves have dropped 14 of their last 15 games. They have been swept three straight four game series. Three defeats came in extra innings. The Braves have been out-scored 69-38 over the course of the losing streak. eight of the losses have come at home. The Braves lost all eight games to Pawtucket this season. That is the first time the Braves have ever gone winless vs. an IL opponent in a season series. The all-time Richmond IL record for consecutive losses is 14 by the 1959 Richmond Virginians.

ON THE LEADER BOARD: The Braves lead the IL in stolen base percentage (47-66 .712). The are second in fewest caught stealings (19) The Braves are second in extra innings games played (13). They are 4-9 in bonus frames. Richmond leads the IL in wins when trailing after eight innings (four). The Braves are last in the league in ERA and batting average with runners in scoring position. The Braves are tied for fourth in fielding percentage.

THEY CALL IT A STREAK: Jamal Strong has hits in nine straight games (10-37 .270). Brayan Pena has hits in six straight games (11-24 .458). He is nine for his last 18. Braves pinch hitters are 3-21 (.142). Carlos Mendez has hits in four straight games (8-20 .400). Bill McCarthy has hits in three straight games (4-16 .250). Michael Ryan has hits in the last six games he's started. The Braves have 10 or more hits in four of their last five games and 49 in their last four. Tuesday, the Braves ended a streak of four straight games in which opponents scored first inning runs. Richmond has not had a stolen base in their last nine games. Brian O'Connor has allowed just one run in his last 17.2 innings pitched. The Braves have had 14 players promoted to Atlanta this season, equaling last year's total. Richmond has made 73 roster moves. Richmond is 20 games under .500 and 23 and a half games out of first place, both season lows. Starting Saturday the Braves are slated to face four straight left handed starting pitchers.
