Three Rattlers Garner 2010 All Arena Football League Honors
August 20, 2010 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Arizona Rattlers News Release
MESA, Ariz. - WR ROD WINDSOR, OL KYLE YOUNG and DL ANTTAJ HAWTHORNE have been named to the Arena Football League's All-Arena teams for their efforts in the Rattlers outstanding 2010 season.
Windsor, who was one of a select few unanimous picks, was named to the league's First Team All-Arena today after grabbing Rookie of the Year honors on Thursday. His 2010 AFL season will go down as one of the best single season performances in the history of the game of football. Windsor took the league by storm, breaking a total of 5 AFL records and 10 Rattler records en route to 193 receptions for 2,372 yards and 47 touchdowns. Also led the Rattlers in rushing touchdowns with 7, and had an all-purpose yardage total of 2,417 yards. Set AFL, AFL Rookie, Rattler and Rattler Rookie records for receptions and receiving yards, and also set the mark for receiving touchdowns in the latter three categories. Also set Rattler records for rushing touchdowns by a wide receiver and most points in a game.
Young, like Windsor, was a rookie in 2010 and was the only center in the league to be named First Team All-Arena. He started all 16 games at center, anchoring a line that paved the way for the numerous records broken by Windsor and teammate QB NICK DAVILA.
Hawthorne made Second Team All-Arena in just his second year in Arena Football. He enjoyed a career year in 2010, starting all 16 games and leading the team in sacks with 6.5 for the year. Also tied for the team lead in forced fumbles, knocked down three passes and even scored a touchdown.
The Rattlers finished the regular season with a 10-6 record, the team's best since 2004 when Arizona visited the last of their five Arena Bowls. Head Coach KEVIN GUY became the first Rattler head coach in history to lead his squad to the playoffs in each of his first two seasons.
