Talons Place 5 Players on All-AFL Teams
August 20, 2010 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Tulsa Talons News Release
The Tulsa Talons placed five players on the All-AFL first and second teams combined the league office announced today. The Talons along with Chicago and Tampa Bay had the most players represented.
Making the 1st team for the Talons were defensive end Gabe Nyenhuis, wide receiver Donovan Morgan and mac linebacker Steve Watson. The Talons were represented on the 2nd team by jack linebacker Jamar Ransom and fullback Ogie Armstrong.
Gabe Nyenhuis: Nyenhuis, a three year vet in the AFL had one of the best defensive seasons in league history. Nyenhuis led the AFL in sacks with 15.5 (a new AFL record), tackles for a loss with 13 and forced fumbles with 9. His relentless pursuit of the opposing teams' quarterbacks helped the Talons defense steadily improve during the season. Nyenhuis was also named the Lineman of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year earlier this week.
Donovan Morgan: Morgan led a talented wider receiving corps which saw all three receivers finish with more than 1,000 yards receiving (1st time in franchise history). He finished the season with 123 catches for 1,707 yards and 52 touchdowns. Morgan's 52 receiving touchdowns were the best in the AFL.
Steve Watson: Watson along with Jamar Ransom made up one of the best, if not the best, linebacker corps in the AFL. Watson led all Mac linebackers with 69 tackles (42 were solo tackles) and finished the season with 6.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles and 2 pass break ups.
Jamar Ransom: Ransom led all Jack linebackers with 92 tackles (58 solo tackles) and had 6 interceptions on the season for 57 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also had 1 forced fumble and 9 pass break ups. Ransom is known for his speed and pursuit of the ball on defense, but he also contributed on offense with 4 touchdowns (2 receiving and 2 rushing), giving him a total of 6 touchdowns on the season.
Odie Armstrong: Armstrong, considered one of the best blocking fullbacks in the league, led the AFL in yards per carry (4.7) and rushing yards with 349. He also had 11 catches on the season for 70 yards and 2 touchdowns giving him 15 total touchdowns.
