
Three Period Third Lifts Portland over Providence, 4-3

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Pirates scored three consecutive goals in the third to clinch the 7th meeting between Portland and Providence.
It was a fast-paced first period, with Providence executing many close scoring chances. P-Bruins fired 14 shots on net and Zane McIntyre looked confident between the pipes turning away 8 shots.
Matt Irwin put the P-Bruins on the board for the second night in a row, 4:17 into the second period. Similarly to last night it was a big slapper from the left point. Zack Phillips picked up the helper.
Harper tied the game 1-1 with assists from Rau and Racine.
Frankie Simonelli scored his first goal of the season 14:49 into the second period to give the P-Bruins the 2-1 lead. Justin Hickman threaded the needle to Simonelli who release a writer from the right circle that beat McKenna high blocker side.
The Pirates scored three consecutive goals in under three minutes early in the third period to go up 4-2. Grimaldi, Flick, and McFarland tallied the goals for Portland
The P-Bruins spent the rest of the period playing catchup, with Colton Hargrove scoring with 45 seconds to play in regulation - his third goal in two games. Brandon DeFazio notched the assist.
The P-Bruins look to extend a home streak this Sunday January 3rd in a matchup against the Rochester Americans.
