Harrisburg Senators News Release
The Harrisburg Senators announced today that the Montreal Expos have made three more player moves in an attempt to revitalize the last-place Senators.
The Expos have shipped Infielder Vince Rooi, Outfielder Danny Rombley and pitcher Jon Searles to Brevard County in the Florida State League.
Joining Harrisburg will be top-pitching prospect Mike Hinckley, the Florida State League's leading hitter, Alejandro Machado and a familiar face in Donnie Bridges.
Hinckley, rated as the Expos 2nd best prospect by Baseball America, was 6-2 in 10 starts with Brevard County this season. He worked 62 innings with a 2.61 ERA. He allowed 47 hits, 23 runs, 18 ER 18 walks and 51 strikeouts.
Machado's .355 average was the best batting numbers in the single-A Florida State League at the time of his departure. He played in 46 games with 10 doubles, 2 triples, 1 homer, 19 RBI and 11 stolen bases.
Bridges comes back to Harrisburg where he played on 2000, 2001 and 2002. This time around, Bridges will be used as an outfielder and relief pitcher. Last year with Carolina, Bridges was 10-2 with a 2.81 ERA as a pitcher and batted in .377 in 57 plate appearances.
The Senators roster stands at 23 active players with the moves today.
